When you contact us by email, telephone or post. We keep the details you give us and our correspondence with you.

Technical information. When you visit the site, our web host’s servers automatically record standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time. We use this to keep the website secure and working.

We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the website is not intended for anyone under 18.

3. How we use your information and our lawful basis

PurposeLawful basis (UK GDPR)

To keep in touch with you about the development you enquired aboutOur legitimate interests (or your consent, where required)
To keep the website secure, prevent abuse and fix faultsOur legitimate interests
To meet legal or regulatory obligationsLegal obligation

From time to time we may tell you about other Brookland developments that may interest you. We will only send marketing emails or texts if you have agreed to receive them (or where the law otherwise allows, for example to people who have bought a home from us), and you can opt out at any time by telling us or using the unsubscribe link.

4. Who we share your information with

When you submit an enquiry, it is sent by email to the Brookland team and to the sales or marketing agent for that development (the agent named on the development’s page). The agent uses your details to answer your enquiry and may also be a controller of that information in its own right, so please see its own privacy notice.

We also use service providers that handle information on our behalf:

  • Our website hosting provider, which stores the website and sends the enquiry emails.
  • Our email provider, which receives the enquiry emails in our mailboxes.

The website does not load fonts, scripts or other content from advertising or tracking services.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Transfers outside the UK

Our website is hosted on servers in Singapore. Enquiry details you submit, and the technical information in section 2, pass through and are held on those servers. The UK does not treat Singapore as having an automatically “adequate” level of data protection, so we rely on a safeguard recognised by UK data-protection law: our hosting provider’s data processing terms, which include the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses together with the UK Addendum issued by the ICO. Enquiry emails are then held in our email provider’s mailboxes.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes in section 3. For an enquiry, that means while you are still considering a home with us and for a reasonable period afterwards, after which we delete it or remove it from our active records. If you buy a home from us, we keep the information we need for the purchase, warranties and our legal obligations for as long as those continue. The website itself does not store enquiry-form submissions; they are sent as emails and kept in our mailboxes until we delete them.

7. Cookies

This website does not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and it does not set cookies on visitors’ devices. WordPress may set strictly necessary cookies only if someone logs in to the site’s administration area; these are not used for visitors.

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we need your consent before using cookies that are not strictly necessary, other than certain limited statistical cookies where you are told about them and can opt out. We currently use none.

8. Your rights

Under UK data-protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances;
  • ask us to restrict, or object to, our use of your information;
  • object at any time to us using your information for direct marketing;
  • ask for your information in a portable format, where it applies;
  • withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

We do not make decisions about you using solely automated processing, and we do not profile visitors to this website.

To exercise these rights, email info@brooklandgroup.co.uk. We will normally respond within one month. When you ask for a copy of your information, we will carry out a reasonable and proportionate search for it, and we may ask you to help us narrow the request if it is very broad. We may need to verify your identity first.

9. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first so we can put it right:

  • Email: info@brooklandgroup.co.uk (marked “Data protection complaint”), or write to us at the address in section 1. You can also telephone us on +44 (0) 1530 417385. You do not need to use any particular form of words, and someone acting on your behalf can complain for you if we can confirm they are authorised.
  • We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it without undue delay, keep you updated on progress, and aim to give you our outcome within 90 days (or tell you why it is taking longer).

You also have the right to complain to the UK data-protection regulator, the Information Commission (which continues to operate as the Information Commissioner’s Office, ICO): www.ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113. You may complain to the regulator at any time, but we would appreciate the chance to resolve things with you first.

We take reasonable steps to protect information, including HTTPS encryption on this website and restricted access to our systems. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

11. Links to other websites

Our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
